The Media Club

The Media Club

What is The Media Club?

Thisisnorthumberland’s Media Club is a group of businesses and organisations which can potentially receive preferential treatment when we arrange press trips or submit travel articles to media outlets.

It will be of particular interest to businesses and organisations in and around Northumberland, The Scottish Borders and Newcastle-Gateshead that may benefit from the exposure that a inclusion in any type of media, such as feature stories, round-ups or TV productions, can bring.

The Media Club is open to businesses who either advertise on or sponsor a section of www.thisisnorthumberland.com.

How do I become a member of The Media Club?

Simply by buying a display advert on Thisisnorthumberland.com.

What happens after I’ve bought an advert?

We keep track of all businesses that purchase display adverts and, should the opportunity arise, we will contact you about upcoming press trips, TV projects, article submission, or any kind of PR and/or marketing opportunity that could benefit your business.

How are you working with the media?

We intend to talk to businesses and organisations to gather some strong story leads and we will pitch these ideas to journalists. We have good media contacts both regionally and nationally and expect to have some media trips in place in spring, 2012.  Follow our industry news section for updates.

In addition, we have a good, informal professional relationship with Paul Gogarty Communications (PGC), one of the UK’s best travel public relations companies. In previous professional capacities we have worked with PGC and we know how good they are.  PGC will submit to us story requests and round-up requests from journalists, and we in turn will work with organisations in Northumberland and the Scottish Borders to fulfil these requests and thus increase the profile of this region.

What happens if I can’t take advantage of a media opportunity?

Don’t worry, if you’re presented with a press trip or interview opportunity and can’t use it, we will contact you in the future with other opportunities.

Is there any other cost involved?

Apart from display advertising, no. If you are an accommodation provider you will be expected to provide free accommodation to journalists and freelancers who have commissions. We will also seek support for visits from restaurants, tour companies and attractions so that a journalist has a good, all-round experience of a visit to this region.
