Tag: statue of Victory
The winged statue of Victory is considered to be one of the best examples of its kind in Britain today and it will return to Housesteads Fort museum. It was removed more than 100 years ago. The statue was once thought to have been carved for one of the official buildings at Housesteads, conveying the military might of the Roman Empire. Apparently it was removed from Housesteads Fort in the 1800s.
