The Battle of Heavenfield was a fierce fight between a Northumbrian army, led by Oswald of Bernicia and a Welsh army under Cadwallon ap Cadfan of Gwynedd. It was fought in 633 or 634, and resulted in a decisive Northumbrian victory. Writer and historian Jon Tait tells the story of what some belive is Northumberland’s Alamo!
