New chair for Northumberland Tourism
Mary Coyle MBE is the new Chair of Northumberland Tourism’s Interim Board. She is a trustee of the Newcastle University staff pension plan, and a member of the International Advisory Board for Newcastle University Business School. She brings a wealth of industry and community experience to the organisation.
Be bold, different, business told at sustainable tourism event
Tourism businesses in Northumberland are asked to embrace new ways of supporting one another and the visitor economy. Manda Brookman, director of the Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Network (CoaST), delivered the message at a two-day sustainable tourism conference in Berwick recently.
North tourism fair March 27
Alnwick Chamber of Trade (ACT) in partnership with Local Living will host the annual North Tourism Fair at Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre in Alnwick on March 27. It has in the past been hosted by Northumberland County Council.

Northumberland’s tourism businesses are set to learn about gaining a competitive advantage by being more sustainable. Tourism review underway in Northumberland
A review is taking place to improve the management and marketing of Northumberland’s tourism industry. The idea is to find out how it can be best be delivered in coming years. The review is being let by Northumberland County Council and key tourism partners.

Thisisnorthumberland.com occupied part of Hexham Farmers’ Market for a bit of self-promotion this weekend. Visitors and stallholders at the twice-monthly farmers’ market were able to see the website on a giant plasma TV screen mounted to the back of a nippy Smart car.
