A stellar line-up of top chefs and producers have been signed up for the first ever Tynemouth Food Festival taking place in the coastal village near Newcastle on May 12-13.
On March 25 many North East top chefs will line up alongside the cream of the region’s home cooks for a savoury pie challenge to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity. Professional chefs and amateur cooks will be hoping they have the recipe for success when they go head-to-head in a culinary competition in aid of Britain’s wounded servicemen and women.

Spurreli, which is an Amble-based ice cream company, has picked up a top honour at the prestigious annual Guild of Fine Food’s Great Taste Awards. The firm, which is a family run business, won the regional Golden Fork award for their Sicilian Pistachio Ice Cream.
