An exhibition marking the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will feature Portraits of Queen Elizabeth II taken by renowned portrait and fashion photographer Cecil Beaton. They can be seen at the Laing Gallery, Newcastle. The exhibition highlights the V&A’s collection of royal photography and includes photos, film clips and excerpts from Beaton’s letters.

They include the options of BSL interpreters and free guided tours and transport for those who find using public transport difficult.

The way in which Shakespeare has inspired artists for centuries will be illustrated in a new exhibition in Newcastle’s Laing Art Gallery. The show will celebrate the 175th birthday of the city’s Theatre Royal and will open on January 28 until April 29. It will display paintings, prints and objects from Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums’ collections.

A painting of the River Tyne by artist Stephen Hannock will be on show at the Laing Art Gallery from January 21. Owned by Sting, the painting is called Northern City Renaissance, Newcastle, was commissioned by the musician and shows the River Tyne and the quayside at Gateshead.
