The lone Kielder osprey chick seen looking forlorn and alone last week has tuned into its instincts and will now bit on the 5000-mile journey south to Africa. Meanwhile, a kesrel has arrived on the nest to have a look about. See the images here.

A osprey chick at Kielder Water & Forest Park has flown for the first time! The maiden voyage was made by the healthy young bird after stretching her winds for a few days and taking a few hops on the nest. Her flight was a great success and soon she will be shown how to hunt by her parents.
