The old woods on the North Tyne River at 13th century Haughton Castle will get a makeover, after the Forestry Commission has promised to spend £50,000 to assist with a transformation of the area that will take the woods back to nature.

Tourism businesses are flocking to a Hadrian AD2022 marketing venture. The new scheme is called after a 1900th anniversary of Hadrian’s Wall which is due to be celebrated in 2022. It will profile member businesses operating along its length and boost the conservation and protection of the World Heritage Site that is Hadrian’s Wall.
