Johnstons of Elgin will expand its Hawick mill site in the Scottish Borders. The company which produces textiles plans to develop a strong focus on tourism by developing a new visitor centre, along with a cafe and retail outlet at Eastfield Mills.
Their is an increasing interest in tracing family roots, and so to capitalise on this new surge of interest a new guide to tracing Scottish ancestry has been launched by Visit Scotland. It highlights unusual and surprising places people can go to learn more about their lineage. More than 50 million people around the world claim to have Scottish ancestry and so the guide is bound to be a success.
