Do you live near a place or a building that has a connection to the Battle of Flodden, if so the Flodden 1513 Ecomuseum would like to hear from you. The Flodden 1513 Ecomuseum wants to expand by a at least 25 more sites. It is seeking nominations from across the UK for sites which relate to the Battle of Flodden, either directly or indirectly and which will help in the development of the network of the Ecomuseum. The search for new sites is part of the development phase for the wider Flodden 500 project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
The 500th anniversary of the Battle of Flodden in 2013 has received support from The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for the development of proposals to mark the anniversary. The HLF first-round pass of £887,400, awarded to the Flodden 1513 Ecomuseum Ltd, includes a development grant of £81,700 enabling plans to be worked up ready to apply for the full grant at a later date. The focus of the Flodden 500 project is to inform, involve and support the wider community in commemorating the anniversary, as well as to co-ordinate, help to develop, and provide publicity for the smaller commemorative/legacy initiatives within communities of the Scottish Borders, North Northumberland and further afield. It also includes a sum to improve learning, access and understanding of the heritage.
