A osprey chick at Kielder Water & Forest Park has flown for the first time! The maiden voyage was made by the healthy young bird after stretching her winds for a few days and taking a few hops on the nest. Her flight was a great success and soon she will be shown how to hunt by her parents.
Fledgling osprey chicks have been ringed by Forestry Commission staff this week. Staff and volunteers are really pleased with the health and progress of this year’s chicks given the horrendous weather in the last few months. Ringing will man the birds can be monitored in the wild.
