Once Brewed Centre’s winning ways used to train new Northumberland National Park visitor ambassadors
Following their success at winning the prestigious North East England Tourism, Best Information Provider Award on Friday, the staff of Once Brewed National Park Centre will be using their winning ways to train a new cadre of Visitor Ambassadors who are being recruited to be out and about in the park during the 2013 season.
National Park information assistants who are led by Visitor Centre Manager, Alison Blair, have built up a national reputation for excellence for their knowledge, understanding and support of visitors to both the National Park and the region.
Now, that expertise – the regional tourism “knowledge”, is to be harnessed to give visitors to the National Park a more rich and special experience. The National Park has 1100 kilometres of footpaths, fascinating history, natural sites and breathtaking views as well as many exceptional places to stay and to get delicious refreshments. The National Park Authority wants visitors to have a wonderful time and to tell everyone about it when they get home. Putting friendly, helpful people in the heart of our most beautiful countryside is one way to make sure that happens.
Tony Gates, Chief Executive of Northumberland National Park and said: “There are some things this region does very well indeed and we need to use every advantage we have to compete for visitors. Our new Visitor Ambassadors will get exceptional training from an exceptional team to raise the standards of visitor welcome over an increasingly wide area.”
A campaign to recruit National Park Visitor Ambassadors is due to launch in two weeks’ time. Successful candidates will receive thorough training and support and will be easily identifiable by visitors on the ground from the latest outdoor gear branded with their important role.
The Once Brewed team now go through to the Visit England ‘England for Excellence’ national awards which are announced later in the year.
