Boys love their toys and even some girls love toys too!
So if you love toys and in particular memorabilia then be sure to visit Woodhorn, near Ashington, Northumberland, on Father’s Day, June 17.
Keith Lawler has been a collector of Star Wars toys since 1977, when the very first Star Wars move was released around and took the world by both surprise and storm.
this Sunday, June 17, Keith will be at Woodhorn to give a talk on the history of his toy collection. He will be accompanied by his young son who is eight.
“Origins, myths, mistakes and the downright silly will be explained and demonstrated,” said Keith. “I’ll also be bringing a vast amount of merchandise from my 35 years of collecting for visitors to see and play with: helmets, action figures, puppets, blankets, blasters, money boxes, t-shirts, puzzles, books, magazines and lots of other random items.”
Woodhorn’s Events and Exhibitions Officer Liz Ritson is sure many visitors will recognise objects themselves.
“I believe that many people will have owned their own Star Wars toys and memorabilia, and this is a great opportunity to bring back those memories and even handle some of Keith’s collection. Why not bring one of your own toys along – perhaps the first one you bought or maybe your favourite? We love to hear the story behind it. It promises to be a great day for Dads and kids, and of course Mums are most welcome too.”
Keith’s talk will be held at 2pm on Sunday 17 June in the function room within Winding House 1 but demand is sure to be high and space is limited, so to make sure of your seat at this free event, book by calling 01670 528080 or visit the Welcome Desk at Woodhorn.
