An award-winning butcher in Rothbury has added yet another accolade to its successes on the national stage.

Rothbury Family Butchers has won a gold award for all of the six sausages it entered into the BPEX Food Service Sausage of the Year Contest.

Sausages must score 95% or more to receive a gold award. Rothbury Family Butchers scored 98% and 99% in each cateogry.

Rothbury Family Butchers’ newest sausage is a pork, pear and black pudding creation and it was judged to be one of the best in the world

Owner Morris Adamson said competition in the BPEX awards is fierce and he is amazed that the company has done so well.  The idea for the new sausage came when he was eating out and had a dish of black pudding with pear chutney. The tastes went well together and so he created the new sausage.

The business has won regional, national and international awards in the past few years and is considered to be one of the best butchers in Britain.

Rothbury Family Butchers is making it easier for people in the south of the county and in Tyneside to buy its sausages. It will soon to open a new shop at Heighley Gate Garden Centre, Morpeth.
