Bamburgh Castle has teamed up with two Northumberland inns to roll out a visitor voucher scheme.

The scheme, which gives guests staying at The Bamburgh Castle Inn at Seahouses and the Lindisfarne Inn at Beal a 10% discount on normal admission, is a partnership initiative between the castle and local businesses to encourage inter trading and improve the area’s appeal to visitors.

The inns, owned by leisure operator Lindisfarne Inns, are the first in the area to join the castle’s discounted admission initiative, which is aimed at boosting visitor numbers to the landmark attraction and surrounding area.

Bamburgh Castle director Chris Calvert said: “It is great that The Bamburgh Castle Inn and The Lindisfarne Inn are the first inns in the county to have recognised the value to their customers in joining such a scheme. They are also supporting a local attraction and fellow business. It is critical in the current economic climate that businesses work together to promote each other and the county.”

Sean Donkin, general manager at The Bamburgh Castle Inn, added: “Our namesake Bamburgh Castle is one of Northumberland’s premier tourist destinations. Along with our sister business – The Lindisfarne Inn – around 250,000 people pass through both units a year. We hope the voucher scheme will encourage a large percentage of these to visit and enjoy Bamburgh Castle.”

Geoff Hodgson, chair of the North East England Tourism Advisory Board, said: “Bamburgh Castle’s voucher scheme initiative is an excellent example of business partnership working. It has obvious economic benefits for businesses through increased visitor numbers and local spend.

“It will also be welcomed by the visitors themselves who will gain from an enhanced service and pocket savings directly thanks to forward-thinking businesses like Bamburgh Castle and Lindisfarne Inns.”
