Kielder osprey chicks experience tragedy and drama in Northumbria
Northumberland Kielder Osprey Update
The Kielder osprey chicks have experience tragedy and drama in the last week at Kielder Forest, Northumberland
Two chicks in nest number one have died, and the circumstances of their deaths are not known. However, the good news is that the last remaining chick in nest number one continues to not only survive but thrive.
Apparently this loan chick is being well fed and is growing quickly.
More good news is that in nest number two it was initially believed that the smaller chick had been lost due to bad weather. However, this is not the case and in fact all three chicks are surviving and doing well. The smaller chick is still on the slightly small die but is holding its own and is competing for food.
We’ll have more updates in the coming weeks.
