Golf clubs in Northumberland are offering free adult golf courses for new players or those looking to get back into the sport.

At Alnwick Castle Golf Club the sessions are being funded by Northumberland County Golf Partnership and are provided by their affiliated PGA professional, Peter Ritchie. They are open to anyone aged 16 years or older who is not a member of a golf club.

All equipment is provided and there is a relaxed dress code, meaning people can attend the sessions in jeans and trainers. Sessions start on February 25 at 3pm for an hour at Alnwick Castle Golf Club.

To book a place contact the club on 01665 602632 or visit www.alnwickcastlegolfclub.co.uk.

Rothbury’s Golf Club and Percy Wood at Swarland will offer sessions on February 18. Again, these are open to anyone aged 16 years and over who is looking to take up or return to the sport. The only stipulation is that you are not a member of a golf club.

Coquetdale is at 11am and to register call Val Hope on 01669 620710. The Swarland session is at 1pm. Call Peter Ritchie on 01670 787010 to sign-up.

For more details about the Get into Golf sessions, visit www.northumberlandcgp.co.uk. If any of the sessions are full or there isn’t one that suits your schedule, email getintogolf@yahoo.com and you will be contacted when more sessions become available.

Coaching sessions are also open to any groups or organisations in Northumberland, and they should contact getintogolf@yahoo.com to register their interest. Disability golf sessions are also available.
