Northumberland Uplands Rural Photo contest

Northumberland Uplands Local Action Group is participating in a Rural Photo Competition, with support of Northumberland National Park Authority.

It is being organised by the European Network for Rural Development in Brussels. The six categories for this competition are: Rural Youth; Rural People; The Spirit of Leader; Rural Diversity; Rural Environment and Rural Employment.

The intention of Images of Rural Europe is to celebrate the beauty and diversity of Rural Europe by collecting photos covering a variety of rural development themes, from all EU Member states.

Do you have great photos of Northumberland?

Photographers who are professional, amateur and school aged are all welcome and encouraged to submit photos on rural development. The winner will attend a high-profile awards ceremony, in the presence of the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, on 27 June, 2012.

The overall winning entries will be displayed at a major exhibition in the Berlaymont building, in Brussels from 22 June to 10 July, 2012.

This contest will give entrants a chance to:

  • Have your photo included in the major EU-wide ‘Images of Rural Europe’ exhibition
  • Be personally presented with the official images of Rural Europe Award at a prestigious launch event in the European Commission Headquarters in Brussels
  • Have a photo opportunity with the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development in Brussels (plus potential publicity in EU and local media)
  • And of course…the fun of taking part and sharing your vision of rural areas with your European counterparts!

So what are we looking for?

More than anything we want to see YOU! Your life, community, friends, family, work environment, as well as the natural rural beauty that surrounds and inspires you every day. A slice of real life in your areas!

If you would like to apply please contact Tom Burston or Philippa Craig for an application form.

Photos should have a minimum size of 5MB, 300 dpi resolution. Closing Date for all entries: 11th May, 2012
