The building is a former schoolhouse near the River Coquet and close to the spectacular Simonside Hills. Tomlinson’s offers great bunkhouse comfort, and owner Jackie serves wholesome foods, first-class coffees and delicious cakes.
Tomlinson’s Cafe and Bunkhouse provides low-cost accommodation overlooking the River Coquet in a newly converted Grade 2 listed former schoolhouse that dates back to 1841.
The location is Rothbury is perfect for families, groups and independent travellers. It has five dormitory-style bedrooms and can sleep a total of 28. Most rooms have an en-suite shower room.
The bunkhouse is furnished in a comfortable contemporary style, exactly what you need after a day in the fresh air.
Guests can mix in the communal lounge, equipped with TV and DVD player. The lounge overlloks the River Coquet, famous for salmon fishing and views beyond to Simonside, Cragside and Debdon. WiFi is available free of charge to all guests.
The bunkhouse is the perfect activity base from which to explore Northumberland’s great outdoors whether you are a cyclist, walker or climber. Close by are cycle tracks and public footpaths.
Tomlinson’s Café is famous in Rothbury and beyond for its wholesome, hearty breakfasts, lunches and light evening meals. A warm welcome is given to bunkhouse guests and non residents as well.
Items on the menu are homemade from local, in-season produce wherever possible. The menu promises to give visitors a delicious taste of Northumberland.
Rothbury is situated in the heart of Northumberland hill farming country, so Tomlinsons is surrounded by some of the best livestock producers in the UK and is close to the coast with its delicious haul of seafood fresh from the North Sea.

This prize will include three nights accommodation for a family of four as well as one afternoon’s free cycle hire. Please note you will be responsible for your own meals and transport to and from Tomlinsons and all transport during your stay.

Contest rules: Only one entry per person and entrants must be 18-years-old or over and live in the UK. The draw will be conducted by an independent party and the winner will be the first name selected at random from all entries.
The break must be taken before November, 2013. Bank Holidays are excluded, and you must negotiate the time of your prize with the owners of Tomlinsons, Rothbury. Please note that you will be responsible for all transport to and around Northumberland, as well as extras such as meals, drinks and spending money.
