Children on Tyneside have helped launch a new marine conservation project aboard a DFDS ferry. Students at Greenfields Community Primary School in Wideopen, North Tyneside, were on the the DFDS King Seaways Tyne-Amsterdam ferry at North Shields. There, they found out about the array of marine wildlife. They also learned how they can have a role in helping ensure marine life in the future.

People’s army to dig into Hadrian’s Wall’s secrets

What could be the biggest community archaeology project to ever take place in the North East of England will see more than 500 people getting involved in excavations at Wallsend in North Tyneside. They will then be heading as far west as Hexham and Corbridge. The volunteers will be encouraged to dig deep to find out more about the history of Hadrian’s Wall.
